Packing Demystified

Packing is a highly unappreciated art form. It takes skill and practice to get it just right where everything you could possibly need under the sun fits into ONE bag. Impossible you say? Hardly. Here are some quick tips to get you packing like a pro in no time.

  • Make a list! And check it twice. Santa truly is a wise man. If you have no clue where to start - here's a starter-list to get you off and running.
  • If its goopy or sticky - ziplock it. The last thing you want to see is shaving cream all over the suit you were planning on wearing to your sister's wedding.
  • ROLL your clothes... its been proven to save more room than stacking it flat. Or even better yet - vacuum seal stuff (Only if you have the right equipment - a vacuum cleaner and trash bag will not suffice!)
  • Always have a photocopy of your passport if you're traveling abroad. Store it separately from your original.
  • Check the FAA website before flying to make sure that there aren't any new security regulations.
  • Pack your toiletries into travel size containers. I personally always make sure I pack my own shampoo - silly as it sounds, it helps bring some of the comforts of home with you, minus the bulk.
  • Research the climate of the location you'll be heading to. Nothing's worse than heavy rain meets expensive shoes.
